An Insecure Brother In Christ

Insecure: (of a person) not confident or assured; uncertain and anxious.

Yikes! Does that sound like someone you know/knew that is a brother of yours? Or maybe you are that brother who is dealing with insecurities. If so get your notepad because the holy spirit is about to school you on being a confident son of the king! Now insecurities can reveal themselves through many aspects of your life, you see you can have an insecurity with your weight, looks, manhood, relationships, and even the season that God has you currently planted in. *Chuckles because I struggled with this at one point of my life* I can honestly tell you that I have run across many dudes who were tongue speaking, demon slaying, holy ghost filled, cup runneth over anointed. However, their insecurities were screaming at me whether it be through a simple conversation, their actions, or even by their tweets.

Okay, first and foremost fellas a female is NOT going to give you the self-confidence, that God can’t already give you himself. If you’re looking for an uptight, rude, bougie, can't speak to anybody because she knows I’m crazy woman then let me tell be the first to tell you, Man BYE! Don’t no WOG want to babysit a man-child. Second D-E-L-I-V-E-R-A-N-C-E is always available bro *inserts emoji smiley face* You want God to bless you with someone, but you can’t trust the fact that He can bless you with someone who HE sees that fits you SPIRITUALLY, and for HIS kingdom. I know I ain’t get a lot of amens on that, but I’ll continue to preach. Guys, God will NOT give you someone who cheats, lies, and flirts with another man. I don’t know what type of God y’all serve, but the type of God I fall out for just about every Sunday wouldn’t grant me with someone who’ll detour me away from His kingdom. For you guys who are needing self-confidence in a relationship, and can’t seem to wait on God please read these scriptures: (Lamentations 3:25- The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for Him, to those who seek for Him.) (Psalms 27:14- Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and He will come and save you! Be brave, stouthearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and He will help you.) (Psalm 130:5- That is why I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for He has promised.)

(Philippians 4:6- Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.) Now before you start asking questions about the scriptures I posted, let me explain why I chose them. No, they have nothing to do with a relationship however they are reassuring my brother's self-confidence doesn’t come from a relationship, but that confidence comes from the LORD. Being patient and trusting God reveals so much confidence in your father and in return, He will give you everything you NEED. *drops mic*

*Picks mic back up because I ain’t done yet* Oh y’all thought I was done???? NAAAAAHHHHHH the Holy Spirit is still spitting them facts on the inside of me. Another insecurity that I see my brothers struggling with is emotion. I’m not gonna lie before I came to Christ I was RUTHLESS with my emotions. Like someone could’ve literally called me crying about something serious, and I would bust out laughing. *puts sad face emoji* I remember in 6th grade this girl decided to have a counseling session for our friendship because I and my other friend kept laughing at the fact that her cat got hit by a car. When I tell y’all I was HOLLERING! Lord forgive me but the way she described how that cat got hit by the car, had me on the FLOOR. I was still hollering when we saw the counselor because of course, I didn’t care for emotions at the time. Looking back at that situation I was selfish, and if I ever see her I would apologize about laughing at the death of her cat. However, there are men in the church who like me who lowkey snicker at men cry out to God. Um, listen, homeboy, you don’t know what battles that they’ve overcome, what blessing that God just dropped out of the sky for them, nor do you know the HELL that they’re going through but continue to praise God either way. I don’t know where this demeanor came from, but it needs to stop. Crying out to God is not weak. I don’t care who is watching you FORGET THE CRITICS AND FOCUS ON THE ACTUAL JUDGE. I used to always feel weak crying in front of people including God however after coming to Christ man I tell you no lie, I am at the altar looking like Viola Davis’s twin brother. Snot and all man I DO NOT CARE! Man, that crying out to God really releases that hurt, pain, stress, etc. While you’re worshipping. You be TIED not tired but TIED, but you will most definitely feel better. Also, the world’s perception of a man being “weak” for showing their emotions is foolish. Do not listen to that nonsense. I’m not saying go around be emotionally unstable, but I am saying to you that it is okay to cry out to God. Crying does not show weakness, it shows God that you’re leaning and trusting in Him to fix the situation. Your crying does not go in vain in God’s eyes, I prroooommiissseee! If this is something that you are struggling with here are some scriptures that you should read over. (Genesis 27:38- Esau: “Not one blessing left for me? O my Father, bless me too.”(Isaac says nothing as Esau weeps.) (Genesis 33:4- And then Esau ran to meet him and embraced him affectionately and kissed him; and both of them were in tears!) (Genesis 43:30- Then Joseph made a hasty exit, for he was overcome with love for his brother and had to go out and cry. Going into his bedroom, he wept there) (Genesis 45:15- And he did the same with each of his brothers, who finally found their tongues!) (John 11:35- Tears came to Jesus’ eyes.) These scriptures reveal men in the bible who wept to God, and over the families. Fun Fact: Jesus even cried… does that make Him less of a man? Crying out to your father does not make you weak fellas. Give God every bit of your praise and don’t focus on anyone else’s opinion.

We have one more insecurity that I literally struggled with until 2017, and that would be my appearance. *facepalm emoji* This insecurity stuck with me for a while. I always found validation from clothes, shoes, accessories, just anything that everybody else had. However, I could NEVER afford it, and I’d be like “well dang God can a brotha at least get some Aeropostale in his closet?!?!”. But that wasn’t the plan God had for me why? Because I wouldn’t have known how to act if he would’ve blessed me with the trendiest clothes. You notice how these celebrities get these tattoos, piercings, clothes, hair styles/cuts, etc. Yea that would’ve been me. I would’ve been a walking rejection, and I would’ve had to pay the price for it when Jesus came back, but we thank God for DELIVERANCE! *Starts shouting and speaking in tongues*. It's funny because my appearance was never identified through the trendiest clothes and gadgets, but it was identified through Christ. Once I came to Christ my appearance changed and it's funny because people can see it as well. I’m not gonna lie I am a high key clothes fanatic and I LOVE Pinterest, but I don’t let that stuff come before God anymore. I don’t let the idea of living beyond my means affect me anymore, now I ain’t saying I’m going to walk out the house looking crazy. *dead emoji* But I am saying that I’m not about to pay almost $300 for some Jordan’s when I need triple of that amount just to pay for one class. However, God always comes through with alternative routes and stores to shop at. However, if you are a brother who finds your self-confidence in your clothes, and appearance here are some scriptures that I pray help you out. (1 Peter 3:3-4- All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is His boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead. And God has reserved for His children the priceless gift of eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.) (Genesis 1:27- So God made man like his Maker. Like God did God make man;Man and maid did He make them.) (James 1:23- For if a person just listens and doesn’t obey, he is like a man looking at his face in a mirror.) (Leviticus 19:28- You shall not cut yourselves nor put tattoo marks upon yourselves in connection with funeral rites; I am the Lord.) (Matthew 23:28- You try to look like saintly men, but underneath those pious robes of yours are hearts besmirched with every sort of hypocrisy and sin.) Listen Matthew 23:28 has my waves floating right now…. Can you say conviction!?!

But all in all, I pray that you brothers got something out of this. Honestly, if you read this and don’t know what I’m talking about, or don’t know anyone who deals with this issue then praise God! But if you can relate or you do know someone who has this issue please, please, PUHLEAZE share this blog post. Fellas your confidence comes from God, not the world who will love you one day, and then hate you the next. Not that girlfriend who’s a good trophy on your arm, nor will the clothes do you any justice bro. However, your identity in Christ will literally ELIMINATE ALL the insecurities that Satan wants you to believe. Remember God used people who felt like they couldn’t be used the insecure, lost, and broken. And He made them victorious, confident and restored their identity in Christ. So, do yourself a favor and say “BYE SATAN WE DON’T DO INSECURITIES IN HOLINESS!” *Justin Taylor’s voice* Much love fellas! *Officially drops mic*
