(James 1:2- Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy,)
Everyone has those days...those days when you’re just tired and overwhelmed, those days when you’re stressed and just want to give up…those days when you’re just going through it. Yup, you’re not the only one, trust me. Been there done that. I remember when I thought the Christian life was gonna be easy, boy was I fooled. I had my first trial and it felt like my life was over (not really lol just being dramatic). I didn't even know what a trial was, I wasn't ready at all. It was a learning lesson though, because after my first trial I found that they're supposed to help us be better Christians. One of the best tests of Christian growth and maturity is trouble. When a believer goes through personal trials, they discover the kind of faith they really possess. Trials not only reveal our faith, but they also develop our character. (James 1:3-4- for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don't try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.) The great things about trials is even when we're going through it, we still have God on our side. Jesus never said that this life would be easy, He told us that life would be rough down here, but He did promise us something. He promised us the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. (John 14:15-16- If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter, and He will never leave you.) Believers and unbelievers both go through things, but the difference is that believers have the Holy Spirit to comfort them. It’s so peaceful knowing that despite what I’m going through, God is with me. I was talking to my coworker yesterday and she was sharing her life verse with me. A "life verse" is a passage or verse of scripture from the Bible that God has used to strengthen, encourage, and direct your life. My life verse is (Psalm 55:22- Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall.) Last year, I was really stressed about paying my bills. It got so bad that every time I would think about money my back would start hurting. It wasn’t until I gave my financial burden to God, that my anxiety went away. This is my life verse because it’ll always be relevant to my life, not just for my finances, but for anything that is burdening me. What’s your life verse? Comment below!
