As I think about God I can’t help but praise His name. It’s not just about what He’s done for me but who He is. He’s the God of creation, the One who saved mankind, the ransom for my life and the list goes on. It’s a privilege to praise the Lord. If creation sings His praises so will I.
Praise God even when it seems like nothing good is happening in your life. (Psalm 34:1- I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace.) David had many problems and in the midst of them all, he still chose to praise God. Things may not be going the way you planned but praise Him anyway. (Psalm 42:11- But, O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise Him for all that He will do. He is my help! He is my God!) Know that God is working everything out for your good and praise Him in advance. Praise Him for His past faithfulness and for what He’ll do for you in the future. “Even if God never did another good thing in our lives, we could spend the rest of this life praising Him for what He has already done.”
Don’t make it a routine to only praise God in the morning or before bed. Get into the habit of praising Him throughout your day. I recall the time Jesus was riding a donkey, on His way to Jerusalem and His followers began singing, shouting and praising Him for all the wonderful miracles He had done. The Pharisees didn’t like that and told Him to rebuke His followers. (Luke 19:40- Jesus responded, “Listen to me. If my followers were silenced, the very stones would break forth with praises!”) If you’re silent, the stones will cry out. Don’t let the stones praise God for you.
You are exhorted to praise God. Let’s continually offer up to Him a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge, confess and glorify His name. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. If creation sings His praises you should too.
