Devotional For The Week Of 5/27/19- Ray Of Hope

Serving God doesn’t mean there are no problems, but the difference between believers and the rest of the world is that we have hope. Our hope is in God that He’ll get us through whatever we’re facing. (Psalm 34:19- The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.)

There have been many times in my life when I wanted to give up but it’s my hope in God that keeps me going. (Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.) Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. God has a good future planned for me so I know that even when things are rough they’re going to get better. I was at work the other day and spoke to a lady who said she’s a sitter for suicidal people. She said, “people commit suicide because they have no hope.”

People lose hope because they don’t see a future. Jesus knew what awaited Him at Calvary but He knew it wasn’t the end. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy He knew would be His afterwards. He was God’s plan for our redemption and He knew the expected end. It looked like there was no hope that day on the cross, but He rose again.

(Lamentations 3:21- Yet there is one ray of hope) If you’re reading this and you feel hopeless, remember that you have Jesus and He’s your ray of hope, He’s the light at the end of the tunnel. No matter the circumstance put your hope in Him and don’t give up. (Isaiah 40:31- But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.)
