Devotional For The Week Of 3/4/19- A Life Changing Encounter

One encounter with God will change your life. I remember mine like it was yesterday. I didn’t just wake up one day and say “today’s the day I’m going to give my life to Christ” I was taking a shower one day and God spoke to me through my heart and said “Your name is in the Book of Life and I have a place in heaven for you.” Deep down I longed to live for God, but I was so deep in sin. After that encounter I knew I had to change, so I prayed for God to deliver me from the sins I was struggling with and help me no longer desire to do them. A month later I surrendered all and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.

Paul had a life changing encounter on his way to arrest every believer in Damascus. (Acts 9:3- As he was nearing Damascus on this mission, suddenly a brilliant light from heaven spotted down upon him!) (Isaiah 9:2- The people who walk in darkness shall see a great Light—a Light that will shine on all those who live in the land of the shadow of death.) He went from the land of the dead to the land of the living after His encounter with Jesus.

The Lord spoke to a man named Ananias in a vision telling him to go lay hands on Paul. (Acts 9:13- “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I have heard about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem!) Even though Paul had a bad reputation, his past no longer defined him because Christ’s blood cleansed his sins. (2 Corinthians 5:17- When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!) Paul went from persecuting Christians to writing 13 of the books in the New Testament.

The Samaritan woman was another person who had a life changing encounter after talking to Jesus. He told her everything she ever did, revealed that He was the Messiah and she went back to the village and told everyone. The Good News isn’t something that you keep to yourself. The Samaritan woman’s priorities changed after speaking to Jesus and she went to tell people about Him. (John 4:28-29- Then the woman left her waterpot beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone, “Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did! Can this be the Messiah?”) Many were saved because of her evangelism. (John 4:42- Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe because we have heard Him ourselves, not just because of what you told us. He is indeed the Savior of the world.”) Paul’s life changed after encountering Jesus and he went to tell people about Him. (Acts 9:20- and went at once to the synagogue to tell everyone there the Good News about Jesus—that He is indeed the Son of God!) When you Encounter Jesus, you’re compelled to share the Gospel, it’s what Jesus commanded us to do. (Mark 16:15- He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.) Share the Gospel so the lost can have a life changing encounter.
