The girl I was before I gave my life to Christ and the woman I am now are two completely different people. Although we have the same name, I’m not that girl anymore. She was an alcoholic, pothead, college dropout and wasn’t satisfied with life. She knew there was something missing but she didn’t know what it was. One day she had an encounter with Jesus and finally realized that He was the missing puzzle piece to her life. She realized that He was the only One who could fill the void she had.
(Isaiah 30:21- And if you leave God’s paths and go astray, you will hear a voice behind you say, “No, this is the way; walk here.”) Jesus is the Good Shepherd that takes care of His flock. When He saw that I was on the path to destruction, He guided me to the path that leads to life. In my hopelessness, He let me know that there was hope for me, that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. A lie the devil tells is “you have to have your life together before coming to God.” If I waited until I got my life together to come to God, I would’ve been waiting forever. (Isaiah 1:18- Come, let’s talk this over, says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!) Jesus waited patiently for me to come to Him so He could clean up my mess.
Humility precedes surrender. I couldn’t have done it on my own. I had to humble myself and admit that I needed God’s help. I had to give Him the steering wheel so He could navigate my life. Now that He’s in control, things have been so much better for me. My life has purpose and I’m walking in His perfect will. (Psalm 119:19- I am but a pilgrim here on earth: how I need a map—and your commands are my chart and guide.)
Tired of driving out of control? Why don’t you just give Jesus the wheel, He’s the perfect guide whose already been where you’re going. (Psalm 32:8- I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.)
