Devotional For The Week Of 7/9/18- Be Doers Of The Word

Luke 11:28- He replied, “Yes, but even more blessed are all who hear the Word of God and put it into practice.”

It’s a privilege to have access to the Word of God. There are people in foreign countries who are killed for having a Bible. We should be grateful that we’re able to read it whenever we want. I was watching a sermon and the pastor said that some teenagers in China have memorized the whole New Testament. I like to hear encouraging stories like that because it makes me examine myself and think about how I can be a better Christian. One thing that I’m working on right now is managing my time better. So many things can be a distraction and I just want to make sure that I’m spending enough time with God daily.

It’s not enough just to pray and thank God for another day, He wants us to open His Word and fellowship with Him. If you want to be blessed, read your Bible and follow its instructions. (James 1:22- But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.) Reading the Bible is pointless if we're not going to apply it to our lives.

(Joshua 1:8- This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.) You can reach all your personal goals, become a huge success by the "world's" standard and still not make it into the Kindgom. Godly success and worldly success are two different things. You can't be successful outside of the will of God. Meditating on the Word day and night is what brings success. (2 Timothy 2:15- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.) God gave us 24 hours in a day to make sure we have enough time to Study His Word. It’s not suggested, it’s commanded.
