(1 Thessalonians 5:17- Always keep on praying.)
Prayer is a vital key to the Christian life. It’s so important because it’s us communicating with God. It’s not something we should do every now and then, it’s something we should do daily throughout our day. When you wake up He’s looking forward to hearing from you. It’s amazing knowing that we serve a God who is eager to spend time with us.
When we were kids and wanted something we’d keep asking our parents until they gave us an answer. God is our Heavenly Father and we can do the exact same thing with Him. Pray until He says “yes” “no” or “not right now”. People think that a “no” from God is a bad thing, but if He already knows our future He must be saying “no” for a good reason. I came across a quote that stood out to me “When God gives you a “No” give Him a “Thank You” He was protecting you from less than His best”. If you want to take route A and God wants you to take route B, the smart decision would be to go with God because He’s the one who planned your life. (Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.) Sometimes the stuff we pray for is something that will hurt us in the future and God doesn’t want to give us anything that will potentially harm us. We have to be fine with any answer that He gives us and remember that He wants the best for us, we just have to want the best for ourselves.
Philippians 4:6- Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers.) I love this verse because it’s just a reminder that I don’t need to worry because I know that God will take care of me. When I pray, I pray once and start thanking God that it’s already done. Remember that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Even though I can’t see it at the moment, I have faith that it will come to pass.
