Devotional For The Week Of 3/19/18- Strong Anchor

(Proverbs 10:25- Disaster strikes like a cyclone and the wicked are whirled away. But the good man has a strong anchor.)

I really like the Amplified version because it breaks down the word for me. The Amplified version of Proverbs 10:25 says (When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.) A foundation is usually a stone or concrete structure that supports a building from underneath. If I replace stone or concrete with Jesus and building with Monique it says a foundation is usually Jesus that supports Monique from underneath. Jesus supports us, He holds us up when we’re feeling down and carries our burdens for us. (Psalm 55:22- Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall.) People are always talking about how they need someone to hold them down and that’s exactly what an anchor does. Jesus is our anchor, our foundation and when trials and tribulations come He holds us down and lets us know that we will be okay. People are always talking about how they need a ride or die and that’s exactly what Jesus did, He died for our sins. Everything we say we need in a person (loyalty, someone who listens, a good friend, someone who’s there for us etc) is everything that God does. (Proverbs 18:25- There are “friends” who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.) Jesus is the greatest friend that we will ever have. We’re always looking for these good traits and characteristics in other people when Jesus already has all of them. You may have some good people in your life, but nothing will ever compare to the anchor and support that we have in Jesus. (Proverbs 18:10- The Lord is a strong fortress. The godly run to Him and are safe.)
