Devotional For The Week Of 2/5/17- More To Life

(Psalm 37:4- Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart’s desires.)

(Listen to the song below) If you’ve never heard this song before, listen to it and pay attention to the lyrics. “There's gotta be more to life, than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me” Are you chasing something(drugs, money, boy/girl, fame, etc) and still feeling empty? (Matthew 6:33- But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.) A temporary high is just a tease because you’ll always be left wanting more. Let’s stop wasting our time chasing after things that won’t fulfill us. “I've got the time and I'm wasting it slowly” “I️ wish I️ had more time” is something that people are always saying. God purposely gave us 24 hours to get everything done that we needed to accomplish for that day. We need to make sure that we’re spending our time wisely. One thing God had to deal with me about was my laziness. There’s nothing wrong with relaxing, but if you find yourself relaxing ALL THE TIME and not getting any work done that’s a problem. God had to deal with me in that area because I’m now a business owner. Never in my 22 years of living would I have imagined myself having my own business but here I am and all the glory goes to God. I love Proverbs because it talks about wisdom, but it also talks about laziness ALOT. (Proverbs 12:24- Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and never succeed.) I’ve been watching Terri Savelle Foy videos on YouTube and she’s very inspirational. She talks about purpose, having a vision, changing your mindset, etc. There’s more to life than chasing after things that will only give you temporary satisfaction. It’s time to start chasing after God who provides what will satisfy you and using the 24 hours that God gave you wisely.

Some tips on how to manage your time wisely:

  • Download a time management app.

  • Wake up 30 minutes earlier than you’re used to. (I started doing this last week and it’s been very beneficial.)

  • Make a list of everything you need to accomplish for the day and check them off after you finish each task.
