Devotional For The Week Of 12/11/17- Time To Grow Up

(Hebrews 5:12-14- You have been Christians a long time now, and you ought to be teaching others, but instead you have dropped back to the place where you need someone to teach you all over again the very first principles in God’s Word. You are like babies who can drink only milk, not old enough for solid food. And when a person is still living on milk it shows he isn’t very far along in the Christian life, and doesn’t know much about the difference between right and wrong. He is still a baby Christian! You will never be able to eat solid spiritual food and understand the deeper things of God’s Word until you become better Christians and learn right from wrong by practicing doing right.) There’s nothing wrong with being a baby Christian when you first come to Christ, but it’s not good for you to remain stagnant. The reason some people are stuck in the same place is because they’re not ready to do what God has called them to do or let go of things that God has told them to let go of. Sometimes we feel like we’re not good enough for what God has called us to do. “I’m not good enough” “I can’t do that” etc. If God has called you to do something you are good enough and you can do it. God wouldn’t tell you to do something that you’re not capable of doing. Don’t run away from your God given purpose. (Jeremiah 1:4-10- “I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.” “O Lord God,” I said, “I can’t do that! I’m far too young! I’m only a youth!” “Don’t say that,” he replied, “for you will go wherever I send you and speak whatever I tell you to. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I, the Lord, will be with you and see you through.” Then he touched my mouth and said, “See, I have put my words in your mouth! Today your work begins, to warn the nations and the kingdoms of the world. In accord with my words spoken through your mouth I will tear down some and destroy them, and plant others, nurture them, and make them strong and great.”) Jeremiah said that he was too young, but God put His words in his mouth. If Jeremiah was only a young boy, then what’s stopping us? The things you’re holding onto that’s hindering your walk with God, let them go. Ask God to remove anything/anyone in your life that’s hindering your walk. Ask God to deliver you from anything that you’re struggling with and help you no longer desire to do it. It’s time to grow up. It’s time to let go of milk and move onto spiritual food. It’s time to obey the Holy Spirit so that you can help others.
