Satisfaction Guaranteed

1.   How would you describe Christ to an unbeliever?

With Christ you’ll be satisfied. When you buy something at the store they always tell you satisfaction guaranteed meaning that you’ll be satisfied with your product. That’s just how it is when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, you are satisfied.

(Psalm 42:1-2- As the deer pants for water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. Where can I find Him to come and stand before Him?) “I thirst for God, the living God.”

Deep down all of us thirst for God. Deep down all of us want the answers for how to have a successful life, we just don’t like the answers that God gives.

Luke 18:18-24

“I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer.” -Jim Carrey

2.   What do you think about that quote?

The rich young lad walked away because He didn’t like Jesus’ answer. We can’t judge Him though because we’re the same way, we just do it differently. We don’t like His answers so we go get our palm read, see what our horoscope says today, go to a fortune teller etc. We chase temporary highs just to be left empty. We have left the true living God for false gods who give us no satisfaction. Many times people think about all the stuff they’ll miss out on when they give their life to Christ not realizing that what He has for us is so much better.

Luke 18:28-30- And Peter said, “We have left our homes and followed you.” “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and everyone who has done as you have, leaving home, wife, brothers, parents, or children for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over now, as well as receiving eternal life in the world to come.”

Luke 14:25-33

One thing I’m realizing during this walk with God is you really do have to count the cost. It’s going to cost you to do what God has called you to do. You may lose some friends, a boyfriend/girlfriend, lose out on some sleep, but it’ll be all worth it in the end. Think about it: Our salvation cost Jesus His life.

(Jeremiah 2:13- For my people have done two evil things: They have forsaken me, the Fountain of living waters; and they have built for themselves broken cisterns that can’t hold water!) Why do we build broken cisterns that can’t hold water when Jesus gives us everlasting water and tells us we will never thirst again? (demonstrate with a water bottle with a while and one without)

John 4:1-34

(John 4:34- Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God who sent me, and from finishing his work.) True satisfaction comes from doing God’s will, you’ll never be satisfied outside of it.

3.   What’s 1 thing you found satisfaction in before you gave your life to Christ?

I used to find satisfaction in weed and I wanted to be high all the time. I didn’t realize until after I got saved that it wasn’t weed that my soul wanted, it was Jesus. When you don't have God in your life you'll never be fulfilled, you'll always want more because nothing can fill that void except God's love. No amount of drugs, alcohol, sex, money etc will ever fulfill you like Jesus can. He is the missing piece to everyone's puzzle and if you don't have that missing piece you'll be incomplete. A life with Jesus is a life fulfilled. (Matthew 5:6- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.)

(John 6:35- Jesus replied, “I am the Bread of Life. No one coming to me will ever be hungry again. Those believing in me will never thirst.)

I was reading a book and it said “In every human being there is a God-shaped blank that only He can fill.” We can’t expect people to fill the voids in our life that only God is supposed to fill.

4.   What did you get out of today’s lesson?

This is just a reminder that true satisfaction comes from God. Nothing/nobody will ever satisfy you like He can.
