As a Christian growth is very important. There’s always room for us to grow in our walk with Christ and there’s always room for us to increase our knowledge of the Lord. It’s a problem when we get stagnant because we will never finish learning. You can read the Bible over and over and get different revelations. We meet people all the time, hear them talk about God say “Oh wow I need to read my Bible more”. The point of this journey with God is to grow spiritually daily.
1. What’s 1 area in your life where you see a lot of growth?
God never intended for us to just get saved and that’s it. When you play video games you don’t just get to the next level and stop, NO you keep going. Nobody plays a video game just to remain stagnant.
Just like gamers keep working toward that day when they beat the game is the same way that we should keep working toward that day when we will finally be all that Christ saved us for and wants us to be.
2. How often do you read your Bible?
The same way that gamers learn the manual for how to play the game is the same way that we should study the manual (the Bible) for how God wants us to live life. (Joshua 1:8- This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.) ( 2 Timothy 2:15- Work hard so God can say to you, “Well done.” Be a good workman, one who does not need to be ashamed when God examines your work. Know what his Word says and means.)
2 Kings 22
2 Kings 23:1-25
3. What stood out to you about Josiah?
I loved that right after he realized he’d been doing it all wrong he repented and fixed it right away. He’s a great example of turning from sin and doing better.
Once someone figures out the rules of the game they don’t have to keep going over the basics because they already know.
Gamers know that when you’re stagnant you will never get to the next level. Some synonyms for stagnant are lethargic, stuck and dying. How can you win a video game if you’re not moving or dead? An idle person spends there time doing nothing. (Proverbs 16:27- Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece.) It’s just like when you’re lukewarm God will spit you out. (Revelation 3:15-16- “I know you well—you are neither hot nor cold; I wish you were one or the other! But since you are merely lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth!)
4. Check out the video below. What stood out to you about it?
This is just a reminder to make sure that we continue to grow in Christ. It’s time to level up and be the man/woman God created us to be. Our goal should be to grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We need to stop being idle and find our purpose to do what God wants us to do.
