God Is The Source

1. Who is God to you and why?
So many people are searching for something, searching for joy, searching for someone to love them, searching for answers etc, not realizing that God is the source of it all. God is the missing piece of your puzzle, the glue that holds your life together and the only one who can fill the void in your heart.
2. What’s one example of something people try to fill the void in their heart with?
I saw a quote that said” sometimes God has been missing from our lives because He hasn’t been included.” We try to fill up our heart with everything but God and wonder why we’re not fulfilled. (Psalm 34:7-Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart’s desires.)

One thing that I’ve realized is happiness is not the same as joy. Happiness is fleeting, but joy is everlasting. Have you ever heard someone say at first I was happy, but now I’m not. It’s because happiness isn’t guaranteed, it comes and goes, but just like God, joy is here to stay. Before I got saved, I didn’t realize how unhappy I was until I gave my life to Christ. (I would mask how I felt by smoking weed, not even realizing that I just wasn’t satisfied with my life. I would always have a scripture on my header on Twitter because when people came across my page that’s what I wanted them to see. I would change it weekly and I remember I came across (Proverbs 31:25- she is clothed with strength and dignity and she can smile at the days to come.) I told myself I wouldn’t change it until I actually felt that way. It wasn’t until I gave my life to Christ I was finally able to change it and I was finally smiling again because of the joy of the Lord. I’m not saying that everyday is just a perfect day with no problems, that’s just not realistic, but even when I go through things, I know that I have God so my day is good and I still have joy. For the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)(1 Thessalonians 5:16- Always be joyful.)
We have to understand that God isn’t just with us when things are going good, but He’s still here when things are going bad too. We have to learn how to praise Him in advance. Even when going through trials we have to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

1 Peter 1:6-7

Acts 12:1-11

Peter was in jail, double chained between two soldiers and sleeping. He wasn’t worried at all, that’s how much faith he had in God. That’s the kinda care-free I want to be when going through trials. Knowing that no matter what I’m going through God will take care of me.

Romans 5:3-5

Acts 5:17-41

3. What’s your favorite Bible verse and why?
I’m doing a raffle for a shirt giveaway and each person has to give me their favorite scripture and why. One girl shared: (Ecclesiastes 3:11- Everything is appropriate in its own time. But though God has planted eternity in the hearts of men, even so, many cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. She said, “I love this scripture because it’s so true that God makes everything , EVERYTHING (even the bad that happens in our lives) beautiful in its time. As humans, we’re never satisfied, we’re always searching for and wanting more and that desire won’t be fulfilled on earth, eternity is what will give us that satisfaction and fulfillment, so I put hope in that when I feel discontent in where I am or with what I have.”

You don’t have to go searching for love, God is love. People don’t truly understand how much God loves us, even I didn’t at one point. (John 3:16- For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 8:35-39

People always ask why would a loving God send people to hell, but He doesn’t, people send themselves there and even the people in hell can feel God’s love.

John 3:1-21

John 19

Not only does God love us, but even after He died on the cross for us, He made sure we were okay and sent us another Comforter.

John 14:15-31

I see a lot of people these days talking about horoscopes, crystals, going to get their palms read etc, not realizing that all those things are demonic. Anything that goes against God’s Word is just opening doors for the enemy to attack you. If God knows our future why not go to Him, who is the source. (Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.)

Isaiah 8:19-20

Daniel 2

So none of the King’s magicians, incantations, sorcerers or astrologers could tell the king his dream, but when Daniel and them prayed to God, He revealed it to Him. One thing I like is that Daniel was humble, he could’ve taken the credit, but he didn’t. (Daniel 2:30- But remember, it’s not because I am wiser than any living person that I know this secret of your dream, for God showed it to me for your benefit.) (Leviticus 19:31- “Do not defile yourselves by consulting mediums and wizards, for I am Jehovah your God.) (Isaiah 19:3- Her wise counselors are all at their wits’ end to know what to do; they plead with their idols for wisdom and call upon mediums, wizards, and witches to show them what to do.) (Galatians 5:20-21- idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group—and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.) Crystals do not give you good vibes, good luck or healing. Jesus is the healer, whether it’s a terminal illness or a broken heart.

Mark 5:25-34

(Psalm 34:18- The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking; He rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins.)

This is just a reminder to be content with God. If you feel like something in your life is missing, then go to the source who will make sure you’re satisfied. Seek Him, not just because of what He can do for you, but because of who He is and how much He loves us. (Isaiah 58:11- And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.) Question For The Week: Do you want to be like a well-watered garden and ever-flowing spring or sun-scorched land?
