Just because it looks good to you doesn't mean that's it's good for you. (Proverbs 14:12- Before every man there lies a wide and pleasant road that seems right but ends in death.) Why is life that way? Why does it seem like not serving God "looks" better than serving Him, why does their life "seem" better. Well first, everything is not what it seems, a person's whole life can look put together on the outside but what about the inside? People put on facades everyday even rich people. It's not about their physical appearance, what about their spiritual appearance. (Revelation 3:17- "You say, ‘I am rich, with everything I want; I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that spiritually you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.)
It's always better to do God's will than to follow the crowd. It's always better to be on the narrow road where there's just a few than to go down the road where there is plenty.
So they chose not to do what everyone else was doing and came out looking better than them. It was just a few of them but they came out on top. The straight and narrow road will always be better than the broad road.
(Proverbs 16:17- The path of the godly leads away from evil; he who follows that path is safe.)
(Isaiah 3:10-11- But say to the wicked, “Your doom is sure. You too shall get your just deserts. Your well-earned punishment is on the way.” But all is well for the godly man. Tell him, “What a reward you are going to get!”)
A lot of times we look at people who aren’t saved have a lot of fun, but you don’t know how much time they have left on Earth. What if that person died tonight not saved. Were they really having fun? Their life might’ve seemed fun but is hell fun?
But it's not always about what looks better, some people just don't want to serve God.
When you really love God there’s supposed to be grief for your sins, just like how Daniel was when he sinned against God. He was truly a man after God’s own heart.
The road to God is so narrow because people just want to enjoy their life in sin not realizing or not even caring where that road leads.
Like I said before everything that looks good for you isn't good for you. Think of prostitutes, there's something about them that looks appealing. Maybe what they're wearing, tight, short very revealing clothes. Their body language draws attention to them, they capture you somehow.
Everything that looks good for you isn’t good for you
So the serpent deceived Eve and even though she wasn't supposed to eat it, she did because it "looked good" So because it looked appealing to her she changed history for all mankind, the world has never been the same after she ate that fruit.
They say the love of money is the root of all evil but I say that the love of food can be just as bad. So many people die because of food let's think about what Adam and Eve did all because of food. Why is it that fasting seems so hard? Because we love food so we must learn to discipline our flesh. Your flesh is saying feed me you say “no I'm not hungry I'm not eating, matter of fact I won't wait until 12 to eat I'll eat in the morning and if you keep bothering me I'll fast for another day. You're in charge of your flesh, when your flesh was in charge of you, you made bad decisions but now you're in charge and you're led by the Spirit. Your flesh doesn't care what you do, it doesn't even go with you after you die, your soul leaves your body. So if you happen to die and go to hell, God forbid your flesh won't even be there suffering. God can't take you higher if you can't even discipline your flesh. You're supposed to be here but you can't even get there because you won't fast. Fasting isn't always about you there are people whose souls are at stake, people who need saving. Discipline your flesh so you can really be who God has called you to be. I know there's a lot of people God has been telling to fast but they haven't been doing it. God honors faithfulness. Obedience shows that you're faithful to God. You have all these dreams for yourself, just think about the plans God has for you if you'd be obedient.
(Ephesians 3:20- Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.)
