If you're not gonna do God's will for your life then what does He need you for? If you're not doing what God has called you to do why does He have to wake you up? Jesus didn't die for us to still be living life the way we want. He said if you wanna save your life give it up for Him. If you haven't gave anything up for Him, stopped a bad habit, any sins that you're doing, ask yourself if you've gave your old life up. Some change the same day some don't but don't allow too much time to pass to want to be set apart and live righteously. If you accept Jesus into your life but want to keep your old life, do what you want, keep living in sin, the forgiveness isn't still there. You don't just accept Jesus into your life and that's it there's work you must do and God starts working on you, making you in His image. Many times people say well works doesn't get us into heaven, which is completely true I'm not talking about good deeds I'm talking about doing what the Lord wants you to do. People don't realize that if you're not gonna do God's will for your life then you're as good as dead. Jay Z said "life starts when the church ends, but life starts when you start living for God. Just think about Jonah's story, God said go do xyz and he ran away and got swallowed by a fish. A lot of times people read Jonah and think "oh he just got swallowed by a fish" but if he didn't change his mind he would've died, he said death was very near. Ask yourself: What would God need you for if you're not doing what He wants you to do? Jonah is a very familiar story but I wanna talk about the person who betrayed Jesus: Judas.
Just like that Judas was replaced. And of course he didn't have a regular death but his stomach burst open.
If you're not gonna do God's will what does He need you for? He'll just find someone else to do the job and replace you.
Fishers of men: Mark 1:16-18
There are people dying everyday, people lost, and they need help. The help is us, Jesus called us to be fishers of men. We're here to do God's will for our lives and part of what He wants us to do is go after the souls of men. The devil is working 24/7 going after people's souls so they can go to hell with him. (1 Peter 5:8- Be careful—watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. ) If someone is lost it's easy for the devil to go after them because without God on their side they have no help. We're supposed to tell people about Jesus but it doesn't end there, pray for them, give them some tips on how their walk should be, pray with them, have a Bible Study with them etc, anything that can help strengthen their walk. (Acts 20:24- But life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God’s mighty kindness and love.) It's so selfish to get saved and not go tell people about Jesus. (Romans 10:15- And how will anyone go and tell them unless someone sends him? That is what the Scriptures are talking about when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace with God and bring glad tidings of good things.” In other words, how welcome are those who come preaching God’s Good News!)
God has a plan for all of our lives and all you have to do is ask Him what it is. (James 1:5-If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; he will not resent it.) Ministry isn't about having a podium it's about your everyday life. You don't need a microphone to tell people about God. That's what people fail to realize that not everyone will be on tv, not everyone will have their own church and that's okay. God hasn't called everyone to be a pastor, but He does want us all to tell people about Jesus. Salvation isn't just for us to keep to ourselves no one has ever been saved from a silent/secret salvation. If we're not winning souls we are useless. We are saved to save. "People make church their ministry & not God their ministry" People are so caught up on titles that they stop allowing the Holy Spirit to lead & they lead themselves. Don't use God to make you famous, let God use you to make Him famous. We are God's vessels, we do what God wants, not the other way around. Whatever ministry God has given you, big or small, it doesn't matter it's just about allowing God to use you.
Remember that when you obey God you're not doing it for Him, you're doing it for you. (Luke 17:10- Just so, if you merely obey me, you should not consider yourselves worthy of praise. For you have simply done your duty!”) Many times people are like wow I commend you that you don't do such and such anymore but it's like what are you commending me for when I shouldn't have been doing it in the first place? What are you commending me for when this is what everyone should be doing? No one should be praised for something they're supposed to do.
We must be Christ-like. No longer should we be mean and nasty. No longer should we be cursing people out, selfish, angry all the time etc. When we give our lives to Christ, God starts molding us in His image. We don't do many of the things we used to do, we have a whole new mindset. We change for the better.
When we claim Christ we can't act like others act, we're set apart for a reason. (Leviticus 19:1)says be holy because I the Lord your God am holy.
If you're a Christian make sure you're living like one. When you walk in the Spirit you will always please God but when you walk in the flesh you are only satisfying yourself.
Salvation is only the beginning. So many times we just get happy when someone accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior but we don't make sure they know how this Christian walk will be. When I got saved nobody told me about the trials I will face and when my first one happened it was hard. I'm like wait what's going on, why does this have to happen. Like I just really wasn't ready at all. I wish someone would've warned me and let me know of the trials ahead. Now when the Lord allows me to help bring someone closer to Him I make sure I let them know that it may not be easy but God got us no matter what it feels like and that it's worth it to be saved. So many people think it ends with saying Jesus I accept you and repenting, but their must be a lifestyle change. What's repentance if you don't even change your ways? Repentance is sincere regret or remorse. When you sincerely regret something you'll try your best to make sure that it doesn't happen again. "God doesn't want your lip service, He wants your life service." Many people don't even really know who Jesus is, they just make up their own version of Jesus. "Well I can still do this and do this and be saved" even when they know that the Bible says the opposite (2 Timothy 4:3-4- For there is going to come a time when people won’t listen to the truth but will go around looking for teachers who will tell them just what they want to hear. They won’t listen to what the Bible says but will blithely follow their own misguided ideas.)
Of course offerings are good, but God is interested in our obedience more. An offering is nothing to God when somebody doesn't even obey Him. Remember that obedience is better than sacrifice. God wants a change of heart, He wants us to be filled with clean and right desires. Remember that salvation is only the beginning, but it's the beginning of an incredible journey. Don't be discouraged when things get tough. (James 1:3-4- for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.)
