God is love. Love comes from God. As we strive to be Christ-like we are to love others as we love ourselves.
1 John 4:7-21
So during my journey with God I'm learning not to just tell someone I'll pray for them but actually pray for them and help them out if I can. God's love for me is truly showing me how to love others. Before coming to Christ I used to be very selfish, I didn't like sharing and I definitely didn't like giving away my money. Growing up I always saw my dad helping out people when he can and giving away money when he can. He always told me if you hold onto money you'll never receive any, but when you give away money it'll come back. So ball up your hand in a fist, if it stays like that no money is ever going to be able to get in your hand. Now open your fist, if your hand is always giving away that money will come back to you. Before it felt like I could never keep money, like I always had it and then it was gone and I realized it was because I was selfish with money and also spending it on the wrong things. How can God bless me if I'm not blessing Him? A couple Sundays ago at church I learned that's there's a blessing in generosity. The question was "Do I impact others with my money or only use it for myself?"
2 Corinthians 9:11-15
Love is the greatest thing. What's being a Christian if you don't have love?
1 Corinthians 13
1 John 3
So Cain was jealous of his brother because the Lord accepted Abel's gift and not his. Cain was so angry that he killed Abel. The Bible tells us not to sin while we're angry for a reason.
(Ephesians 4:26-27-If you are angry, don’t sin by nursing your grudge. Don’t let the sun go down with you still angry—get over it quickly; for when you are angry, you give a mighty foothold to the devil.)
God warned him to not be disobedient and that sin was just waiting to attack him. All he had to do was obey God and fix it. If he was loving, he would've been able to conquer that situation because love conquers all.
(1 Peter 4:8- Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love makes up for many of your faults.)
So if you love someone how can you hate them? If you love someone how can you be envious of them? If you love someone how can you kill them? This is what the scripture means when it says that love covers a multitude of sins. Love people because Jesus loves us so much that He died for us.
When you're really a loving person you'll do the right thing.
One day I was in a Uber and in the back of the car I saw a $10 bill. So in my mind I'm like I wonder if he knows he has money in the back of his car. Now to be honest the old me would've most likely took it and said "God obviously wanted me to have it or bet lunch on him". I'm saved now though so I gave it to him and said this was in the back of your car and he was shocked. The saying What Would Jesus Do can help you out in so many different situations. Before thinking about cussing the person out who cut you off ask yourself What Would Jesus Do. Before catching an attitude with your coworker ask yourself What Would Jesus Do. Before ignoring that homeless person ask yourself What Would Jesus Do.
(Ephesians 5:1-2- Follow God’s example in everything you do just as a much loved child imitates his father. Be full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave Himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, for Christ’s love for you was like sweet perfume to him.)
Jesus is our greatest example of love. I know you guys have heard of "random acts of kindness". It's a selfless act performed by kind people to either help or cheer up a random stranger or even someone you know for no reason at all but to make them happy. Jesus was always helping out strangers or even people He knew and He made sure to help out in any way that He could.
So Jesus helped out in any way that He could whether He knew them or not because of His love for people.
1 John 2:7-11
Make sure you love others just like God loves you. Always ask yourself What Would Jesus Do in certain situations and start participating in random acts of kindness so that people can give God the glory!
