When God called Abraham, He told him what was going to happen in the future.
The son God was speaking about was Jesus.
God preached the Gospel to Abraham before Jesus was even born. He was telling Abraham His plan for our redemption. (Galatians 3:16- Now the promises [in the covenants] were decreed to Abraham and to his seed. God does not say, “And to seeds (descendants, heirs),” as if [referring] to many [persons], but as to one, “And to your Seed,” who is [none other than] Christ.) Some scripture references referring to Christ as the seed: (Genesis 22:17-18 and Genesis 3:15)
(Romans 16:20- And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.)
(Genesis 15:5-6- Then God brought Abram outside beneath the nighttime sky and told him, “Look up into the heavens and count the stars if you can. Your descendants will be like that—too many to count!” And Abram believed God; then God considered him righteous on account of his faith.) God is a God of reassurance. He always removes the doubts and fears that we may have. He continuously told Abraham that He would make Him the father of many nations even though such a promise couldn’t come to pass. Abraham believed God and because of his faith, He was counted righteous. His seed, heir, son is “Jesus” (which is who Isaac represented) and those who trust in Him are the descendants of Abraham. That’s what God was referring to when He said that Abraham would be the Father of many nations.
1. How can you show God that you have faith?
Receiving God’s promise is the outcome of faith. Believing what He says show Him that you have faith. Abraham believed God’s promise and his faith made Him right with God and when people have faith that Jesus died for their sins it makes them right with God. (Romans 1:17- This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven—makes us right in God’s sight—when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scripture says it, “The man who finds life will find it through trusting God.)
